Alan Edoh

A Leading Kitan Writer

About the Author

Alan Edoh is a well-known writer of Kitan who has published numerous works in Japan. Born in Japan, he was educated in the United States. From an early age, he has delighted in works by Soseki Natsume, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Osamu Dazai, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Frank Kafka. He also enjoys reading the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Truman Capote, Scott Fitzgerald and Raymond Chandler in English.

Kitan Renaissance

Alan Edoh has another ambition, to stir a so-called “Literature Renaissance.” Kitan books written in 18 th and 19 th century have been neglected because of language difficulties. Edoh also rewrites classical works in modern Japanese so that young generations can read them. He regards it as his mission to uncover hidden works by predecessors in the genre.

Kitan Goes International

Alan Edoh wishes to make Kitan stories widely known to international audiences. As a first step, English editions have been prepared with the support of professional editors in USA and UK. In order to support the movement, he contracted with a publisher, Halolub Co., Ltd. Following Kitan’s expansion in English, he aims to develop translations into multiple languages such as Chinese.
